In a society marked by the deepening divide between rich and poor, the gospel calls us to radical and self-giving love. Catholic Social Teaching Principles teach us how to respond to social justice issues facing our world: by meeting the needs of the poor and vulnerable and opposing the structures that perpetuate poverty and abuse the vulnerable. Our vision is to create a society that acknowledges the humanity of all people to live in the fullness of dignity.

THE LATEST
“BIRDS IN NEW YORK CITY”
Presented by SFDS community Party AUDUBON NYC and our Social Justice Ministry.
Let’s live ‘Laudato Si’ in Central Park! An expert from the NYC Audubon Society talks to us about our feathered friends in NYC and ongoing conservation efforts to protect them—because if you don’t know and love what’s in your backyard, you can’t advocate for its protection and preservation!
WEBINAR
HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND IMMIGRATION POLICIES
Our first webinar, presented by the SFDS Social Justice Ministry, was a peak capacity success! We highly urge you to check out the video recording and accompanying resources to learn more about the calamity of huaman trafficking at our doorstep and how it’s perpetuated by current immigration policies.
SJM IN ACTION
The Social Justice Ministry at SFDS is one of the most active groups in the parish. Our Catholic faith compels us to work towards changing the underlying social structures that attack human dignity, oppress people, and contribute to poverty. Some of the key issues we focus on here include:
working alongside our Community Partners to promote the common good and assist the most vulnerable—
