HOMILY

PROFESSION OF FAITH
(THE APOSTLES’ CREED)

I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our LORD,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
on the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

[After each intention]
ALL: LORD, hear our prayer.

LORD’S PRAYER

ALL: Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

PRIEST: Deliver us, LORD, we pray, from every evil;
graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of Your mercy,
we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

ALL: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE

PRIEST: LORD Jesus Christ, Who said to Your Apostles:
“Peace I leave you, My peace I give you”;
look not on our sins, but on the faith of Your church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with Your will,
Who live and reign for ever and ever.
ALL: Amen.

PRIEST: The peace of the LORD be with you always.
ALL: And with your spirit.

You take away the sins of the world;
Grant us peace.

The priest then invites all to share in Holy Communion, All respond to the invitation:

ALL: LORD, I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof,
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

COMMUNION HYMN:

taste and see

Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

O taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord,

of the Lord.

1. I will bless the Lord at all times. Praise shall always be on my lips; my soul shall glory in the Lord for God has been so good to me.

2. Glorify the Lord with me. Together let us all praise God's name. I called the Lord who answered me; from all my troubles I was set free.

3.  Worship the Lord, all you people. You'll want for nothing if you ask. Taste and see that the Lord is good; in God we need put all our trust.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

If you are joining our parish family in worship through our livestream and cannot physically receive Holy Communion with us, you may join us by offering up this traditional prayer of spiritual Communion or one similar:

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

4.png

The Liturgy of the Eucharist ends very simply with a prayer, to which all respond: Amen.
There may be announcements of events and concerns for the community
Then, the priest gives a blessing, and the assembly is dismissed.

ALL: And with your spirit.

All respond to the blessing: Amen.
